In this paper, we make following three claims. First, batteryless RFID is the most economical way to measure a large number of parameters in healthcare settings. We will illustrate this claim with several examples. Second, batteryless RFID, owing to its low cost and complexity, enables innovative patient-centric applications that would otherwise not be implemented. Finally, we will claim it often makes sense to implement batteryless RFID applications first.
How can ThingMagic help you?
RFID for Hospitals and Heathcare Providers
RFID is being adopted by many healthcare facilities to improve materials and asset management, patient safety, infection control, and staff efficiency. Passive RFID in particular allows hospital staff and administrators to easily and cost–effectively measure a large number of parameters in healthcare settings because of its low cost and ease of deployment.
RFID for Medical Equipment Manufacturers
A growing number of medical equipment manufacturers are integrating passive RFID into their products. As a result, hospitals and other healthcare facilities can implement innovative patient-centric applications that would otherwise not be economically feasible.
RFID for Healthcare Solution Providers
True enterprise visibility can only be achieved through a combination of technologies including barcodes, real-time-location systems, passive RFID and other auto-id solutions. With its low cost, small RFID tag form factors and ease of deployment, Passive RFID offers a utility that is fully complementary to other auto-identification and enterprise visibility solutions
